Homeland Security Planning for Campus Executives Workshop

This is a four hour instructor-led workshop designed to be presented at selected higher education association meetings and other appropriate venues. It is directed toward campus executive leadership and provides them with campus preparedness examples, tools and resources in order for campuses to be better prepared to handle catastrophic events. Homeland Security Planning for Campus Presidents Workshop

This workshop is a shorter version of the Campus Executives' workshop described above and is available as a Webcast on the VMC Learning Management System (LMS).

 

Crisis Preparedness Planning for School Administrators Workshop

This workshop was developed using consensus expert opinions about basic information that school administrators should have to increase their awareness of the need for institutional planning and preparedness. The workshop refers participants to other training and resources that provide in-depth information on major topic areas or for training targeted to specific groups such as K-12 school principals. The workshop is available as a Webcast on the VMC Learning Management System (LMS).

 

Campus Public Safety Response to Weapons of Mass Destruction Incidents Online Course

The purpose of this course is to help campus public safety personnel become more proficient in the management of emergencies due to acts of terrorism and other disasters. The content of this course focuses on mental procedures (decision points and thought processes) and strategies for handling critical events and situations. This course is available through the VMC Learning Management System (LMS).

 

Hospital Emergency Management Online Course
This course is an online weapons of mass destruction (WMD) awareness training course on planning and preparedness for hospital emergency management personnel in the event of a WMD attack. The awareness course is an interactive online course designed for executive and mid-level leadership in hospital settings. The course enables hospital managers and staff to become more knowledgeable in the management of emergencies due to acts of terrorism. This course is available through the VMC Learning Management System (LMS).

 

Forensic Epidemiology: Joint Training for Law Enforcement and Public Health Officials on Investigative Responses to Bioterrorism Online Course
This coursefocuses on roles and responsibliities of public health and law enforcement personnel in response to a threat or attack involving WMD. It is available through the VMC Learning Management System (LMS).

 

 

The "West Virginia Prepares - Health Resources and Services Administration:

Continuing Education Partnership" project, sponsored by the Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA), provides continuing education to a public health professions workforce in West Virginia that must be able to deal with bio-terrorist or other disaster events effectively, efficiently and professionally. Up to six continuing education credit hours can be earned by completing the three online courses offered through this project. (View HRSA website)

 

1) "HRSA001 Terrorism Recognition and Reporting" Alerting the public health systems of an event at community, state, and national levels.

 

2) "HRSA002 Multidisciplinary Response" Participating in a coordinated, interdisciplinary response to terrorist events and other public health emergencies.

 

3) "HRSA003 Acute Care of Patients from WMD Events" Acute care needs for vulnerable populations such as pediatrics and geriatrics.
